The premise

Bit Thirsty is a boutique wine retailer with a goal to break down the barriers that can make wine feel exclusive or intimidating. Whether it’s simplifying food pairings, avoiding the overwhelming jargon, or ensuring high quality without high price tags, they aim to make wine accessible to everyone.

I was delighted when founder Jack asked me to create a brand identity to launch the business, and was inspired by his ethos of injecting curiosity and fun into the world of wine, which can otherwise feel somewhat elitist and exclusive. I developed a visual identity centred on this value, creating inky illustrations of characters inspecting wine paraphernalia, alongside a bold colour palette and straight-talking copy set in a clean and fresh typeface.

Working with Esther was one of the most valuable decisions I made when starting Bit Thirsty. From the outset, she took the time to truly understand what was at the heart of the business. As an independent wine retailer launching a brand from scratch, I was naturally cautious about putting such a personal project in someone else’s hands — but Esther immediately instilled confidence.

She has a rare ability to translate vision into design with clarity and purpose. The brand identity she crafted didn’t just look great — it felt like it already existed. It felt like us. The process went far beyond logos and colour palettes; it shaped the way I think about the business and continues to inform decisions in our everyday operations.

Throughout the project, Esther was professional, collaborative, and totally in tune with what I wanted to create. She helped bring the Bit Thirsty brand to life in a way that has already resonated with our audience — the feedback since launch has been incredible. It’s early days for Bit Thirsty, but I feel like I struck gold finding Esther. I couldn’t recommend her more highly to any business looking to build something with meaning and longevity.
