The premise & the project

BookBar is much more than a wine bar and bookshop – it’s a warm, welcoming space for people to socialise around books. BookBar brings people together through events and creates community around books in an inclusive and open way, with live music, readings and wine tastings.

Founder Chrissy is passionate about books, with many years of experience working in bookselling and publishing. With a dream to create a social space for people to enjoy books and each others’ company, BookBar was born. I was delighted when Chrissy asked me to create the brand for BookBar, and was inspired by her mission to put people at the centre of her business model. I developed a brand concept for BookBar to reflect its fun and open nature, steering away from the ‘hush-hush’ atmosphere of bookshops and creating a playful identity that brings community and the joy of books and wine to the forefront. A bold, simple logo paired with sketchy illustrations and a bright palette, gives the new brand a flexible and unique visual language that sets it apart from its competitors.
